Our Team

Pembroke, Ontario is my hometown. Prior to attending law school, I was an Ontario Provincial Police Constable for ten (10) years and during that time I earned my Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Ottawa.

I then graduated from the University of Ottawa Law School and I have been practicing law in Renfrew County since 1984.

Over the years I have been involved in a number of professional, volunteer and community activities which include:

  • Past President of the Renfrew County Law Association;
  • Former Deputy Judge of the Small Claims Court;
  • Past President of the Upper Ottawa Valley Chapter of Business Network International;
  • Former Chairman of the Board of Directors at the Pembroke General Hospital.

I am currently on the Board of Directors of Columbus House (Pembroke) Inc., which is an organization that seeks to improve the quality of life for youth in Renfrew County. Check out the website at www.columbushouse.ca for more information. Perhaps you too can help this worthwhile community endeavour.

After articling in Ottawa I was excited to return to Pembroke, my hometown, to pursue my legal career.  I am a graduate of Queen’s University, Faculty of Law where I received my Juris Doctor. Prior to law school, I completed my undergraduate studies at McMaster University where I received a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Kinesiology.

During law school I was a member of Queen’s Legal Aid and have continued my involvement with the association by acting as duty counsel in Family Court and for tenants at the Landlord and Tenant Board.

In 2010 I was called to the Ontario bar and am a member of the Renfrew County Law Association and the Law Society of Upper Canada.

I am an active member of the athletic community in Renfrew County and in my spare time can be found on the soccer field or on the volleyball court.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Growing-up in Deep River, I have always considered the Renfrew County to be “home”.
Since my departure from the Ottawa Valley in 2002, I have completed my Honours Degree in Psychology, lived and studied in the Netherlands, acquired my Law Degree from the University of Ottawa in 2009, called to the Ontario bar in 2010 and worked in private practice for three years.

Recently I have spent an additional three years teaching clinical litigation and supervising law students at Queen’s University, while founding the first Canadian student bail support program. Now, with a broad range of legal experience, I am ready and energized to return to practice in a career that I love.

During my career, I have integrated myself into the legal profession and the community in many ways:

  • Elizabeth Fry Society Board of Directors
  • Association in Defence of the Wrongly Convicted (now, Innocence Canada)
  • Toastmasters International
  • Triathlon Canada, Triathlon Ontario

I return to Pembroke as a member of the Renfrew County Law Association, the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Criminal Lawyers’ Association and the Defence Counsel Association of Ottawa. Outside of court, I am an avid amateur triathlete. I have completed an Ironman 70.3, a marathon, and numerous triathlons. In 2016, I qualified to compete at the World Triathlon Championships on the Canadian Age Group Team in the Olympic distance in Rotterdam, September 2017. I am a strong proponent of hard work and dedication in every aspect of my life, in particular: my work.
